Biography Taxim is an internationally more known dark electro and experimental project from Essen, Germany. It was founded by Alex Ney in 1996 as a one-man project that merely appeared as a duo in 2008 (together with M.R., vocals) and as a three man band in 2010 (together with M.R. and "Frau Schön", keyboards). In the early years (1996-1999) Alex moved through several, mainly alternative music styles (e.g. neoclassic, darkwave, ebm and medieval folk), while he specialised in dark techno and electro industrial in the 00’s. However, all Taxim outputs are stylistically very mixed.
Taxim became internationally known through the US debut album "Ecclesiophobia" (2006) that stood out for it’s unusual fast and dirty produced electro industrial tracks. Earlier, he caught some international attention with his "SynthieTrax 64" series, because it was released at a time when game soundtrack remixes were rare. Besides Chris Hülsbeck and Chris Abbott, he’s considered as a co-founder of the game soundtrack remix scene. The music of Taxim stands out for it’s powerful, occasionally complex rhythm and the combination of electronic and neoclassical elements. Futhermore, most tracks are kept instrumental.
